Provide guaranteed precision of 0.0002" at four inches out. A precision grip hydraulic chuck is the most accurate toolholder for finishing end mill applications. It maximizes the use of each cutting edge of an end mill tool. Hydraulic chucks provide for reaming, gun drilling and boring operations where finish and tool life specifications cannot be accomplished economically with other tools and processes.
Positive stop actuating set screw provides optimal gripping forces on the end mill cavity.
Holders are not through coolant capable.
- Extreme rigidity.
- Axial accuracy: Concentricity . 0.0002"
Straight bushings will grip the end mill evenly across the end mill shank.
- This provides a gripping force twenty times greater than a standard tapered collet.
- Flats and end mill shank depressions will not distort the milling chuck bore.
- Tightening torque of 22 ft/lbs is minimal for a tremendous gripping force as compared to a tapered collet chuck.
- The collapse range is 0.0015" below nominal.
- Holders has coolant thru capabilities.
- Precision Milling Machine Holders for Straight Shank End Mills.
End Mills are securely held by one or two set screws.

ER Chucks are used for precision work.
ER Collets achieve greater grip strength and higher precision than do double angle collets.
To use, first insert the collet into the chuck nut by squeezing the collet and pressing its face into the chuck nut collar ring until the collet collar is fully seated. Then load the collet into the chuck, insert a cutting tool and tighten with the appropriate nut wrench.
For collet removal, simply squeeze the collet while pulling it from the chuck nut at an angle.
Chucks are equipped with a left-handed-threaded stop screw and a chuck nut.
- Tolerance: Guaranteed to be 0.0002" at the collets' nose.
- Accuracy: ER collets are the most accurate collets available.

SYNCHRONOUS: Modern machine tools have the capability of synchronizing the spindle rotation and spindle feed. This has made it possible to eliminate the spring compression and tension stroke utilized in traditional tapping heads. The advantage that this brings to threading is the speed by which the cycle can operate. The cost of building tapping heads has also been reduced by the elimination of the axial float mechanism.
TENSION/COMPRESSION: Tension and compression holders have been the main stay of machine tool tapping for many years. Collis offers a wide range and style of these heads. We offer the widely used BILZ style tap adapter system.

Manufactured for rugged use, Collis Quick-Change Floating Holders when combined with Collis Quick-Change Tap Adapters greatly reduce tool change-over time. Within seconds your tool can be changed! By sliding the sleeve backward on the Floating Holder, the adapter and tap can be removed and a new one inserted. Release the sleeve and the adapter is locked into place and you're ready to go! Specifically designed to insure against tool pull out and against damage to the mechanism as a result of dirt and chips.
- # Push back the sleeve to release the tap.
- # Insert the tap into the adapter and twist until the square on the tap is aligned with the square on the the adapter. Push back until the adapter is fully seated against the shoulder of the square.
Radial float is still a very important component of your threading operation. The absence of radial float will restrict the tap's ability to follow the drilled hole. The lack of radial float will force the tap to flex to meet the hole, or to cut like a mill, causing premature tap wear.
Standard ISO Taps may be used with these Tap Adapters.
Torque control tapping is still the best solution for protecting your taps and work piece from tap breakage. Bottom tapping or close blind hold tapping, where chip evacuation is a concern, are prime operations for torque control tapping.

Tap extensions with tap shanks provide the advantage of driving standard taps through standard A.S.A. bushing liners. Precision fit of tap in holder. Shank dimensions are the same as tap in holder. Extensions are stocked in 3" and 6" overall lengths. Shank of holder is heat treated to maintain accuracy of tap holder.

Floating Holders
Full floating action that compensates for the misalignment of the tool to the work piece. Lateral float is 1/32" from centerline. Precision action of the holder provides the drive for the closest tolerance work. These holders are self-centering and internal float members are shielded from the intrusion of chips and dirt. All steel working surfaces as well as shank and holder hole are heat treated to maintain precision of spindles and tools.
Morse tapered hole holders when used with the Split Sleeve Reamer and Tap Drivers offer tooling adaptation, simplified floating action minimizes downtime and maintenance requirements.
